Sunday Evening Cartoon

It may not be Saturday, but when you have swag, you choose the day of the week. And I'm gonna go ahead and give you the Saturday Morning Cartoon on a Sunday, because I couldn't finish posting it yesterday morning (or evening) as initially planned. So now this might be the best part of your Sunday routine since it won't solely involve preparing for a brutal monday (sorry I just reminded you).
And look at that! Two posts in less than eight weeks? Has something happened to me? Laziness to do my other work? Possibly. An invigorated determination to make people more aware musically and brighten their audio-lives and visual desires? Perhaps.
No matter the reason, this should do the trick in satisfying whatever thirst you had when coming upon this page.
Shabam - Shinichi Osawa for the masses!

(In my opinion, just a beautiful track with a fittingly beautiful accompanying video. A wide variety and range of sounds and tones in a decidedly cluttered but calculated way make this song a surrounding paradise of noise for you to enjoy your day with. At 2:23 when the bass kicks in I think my heart gets a little stronger due to its intense appreciation of life at that sound. Maybe exaggerating, or maybe it's just that good. Only one way to find out!)

Keystone State of Mind

You guys have full reason to hate me since I haven't been posting at all recently, but mah people, I had midterms, and then I was on spring break in Cuba without internet! So it's not my fault if the swag hasn't been on point.
Also I've been working on a lot of shit on the side, but I'm still gonna start posting more often now, cause I gotchu like that. At least until my dropbox finally runs out of space.
But, here's a song by Tayyib Ali (don't sleep on the kid) that I just heard, and is by far my favorite song of his and I think it's really dope. Peep the vid and then download the video rip below (and then of course the mixtape when it drops)!

(The beat is fantastic, the samples just sound great with the drums providing such a steady rhythm for him to flow upon, and flow he does, along with some great lyrics that really provide a look into what his path has been like so far. I appreciate his realness on this track 'cause most of the stuff he says is actually believable and not just macho head honcho blabber unlike what we usually hear in rap. And for that realness, the steady flow and great instrumental this track is great, end of story.)

Saturday Morning Cartoon

"Tay! I woke up this morning with anticipations of having a morning cartoon! and I was disappointed!"
Shut up and handle the realness.
Here's a Saturday 'morning' cartoon, since we all can't wake up at 7AM.
Sorry for sounding harsh, it was to get you excited for a more intense music video than usual.

Saturday Morning Cartoon

Here's a song that's easier to wake up to, and a music video that's the modern day Saturday cartoon for us children of the new world.

King of Africa

I was recently asked for the name of the song that begins the Rumble in the Jungle Mix (in honor of our Sigma Chi Pledge Party), so I'm posting it here today to add some serious TUnEnage to your TUEsday. Only difference between Tue of Tuesday, and Tune of Tuneage? U 'n E.
A.K.A. Tuneage implies you and e, who would've known!
This song would absolutely satisfy your primal instincts (and nostalgia, due to Lion King reference) sober or on drugs though, so don't think you need to go buy some ecstasy right now for it, it's a school day guys. And Tay Today does not condone drug use.
^ Africa, the real-world LSD trip
Shown to me by my main man Funabetic, partner of Leet, tri-component of Lit.

(The build-up to this song is just a blast from the past, 'cause who hasn't watched the "Lion King" at least once? - No offense if you haven't, but you should probably get to it. And therefore not only is this nostalgic, but this is an example of good sampling and a great jungle beat arising out of it. All-around good stuff, and that's that!)

Saturday 'Morning' Cartoon

I know there haven't been that many posts lately, but that's because I've been working on the TayToday HalloWeekend Special mix for you guys, like, I'm a nice guy! But just to show I'm sorry if you've been checking and not receiving any newness (you could check the archives though!)...
But anyway, today I figured I'd hit you with the TayToday version of Saturday Morning Cartoons. 'Cause a long time ago, as a little Tay, I'd always love to watch the cartoons early in the morning on Saturdays, and many other kids have felt those same sentiments.
So now, in ode to that, I'm gonna post a dope ass cartoon. And since we've grown up/you might not care about watching a cartoon on a music blog, I chose a trippy ass music video shown to me by my maiin (two i's on purpose) man the Caged Jizzdale, aka Keiji Drizzdull or Kevin Garnett as you may know him (celeb alert).
Maybe even smoke before this video if you're into that! (...no really, do it, best wake and bake you'll have)
I mean, the lyrics are "We call that a joint, we call that a joint" repeatedly

(The song is pretty ill, I like the "We call that a joint" part, but for me it's really about the video though, the visuals and coordination with the beat are way too sick. I bet this could get somebody back into smoking weed who had quit, or be on like an advertisement for LSD. Na, I'm wrong, it could be an advertisement against it, 'cause this could give a natural high. Wow TayToday deep thinking!)

Two'sDay: Two Versions!

Rap on Sunday, Dubstep and Techno on Monday, and now for a Two'sDay Tuesday, you get two dope ass music videos, the original and the remixed video, corresponding with two versions of Mark Ronson & the Business Intl's "Bang Bang Bang", a funky techno pop rap soul song that is sure to set the tone for a good week.

Funky
(This song is smooth, well constructed, well layered, hits the right tones and spots with a seemingly perfectly suited cast of members due to beat, singing, and rap corresponding seamlessly. Seemingly seamless. I like it, I think you might too)

Funkier
(This version is faster, more instrumental, and a tribal - jungle - lovemaking dance tune at that. The count in Count & Sinden is Herve, who's a Tay2Day legend - peep his remix of "Under the Sun". No actually, if you haven't heard it, search it now, it's been posted more than once here too. "Oh, but I just started reading tay2day, I couldn't have heard it yet!" NO EXCUSES!)

Take a Trip With Yeezy Airlines

Kanye West's new 'music video' "Runaway" came out yesterday in its full length, which is about 34 minutes.
You may be thinking "But wait, that's a long ass music video" and you'd be right. However, "Runaway" isn't a music video for one song, and it's not just about the music. It's a 'film' that Kanye directed which features songs from his next album, and it's fucking dope.
I was skeptical at first to be honest, like, Lady Gaga does her artistic music videos, with "Alejandro" and "Telephone" where she managed to tarnish my view of Beyonce, so there's already been creative musicians going artistic with long music oriented films before, and I wasn't really feeling it and that was like 10 minutes. So a 34 minute long film? I wasn't sure it would be worth it, I figured I'd watch it and maybe skip through it.
Then, I started watching, and when the female narrator (Nicki Minaj's english accent? It fits the purpose) is talking and rhyming and hitting it right, and the opening beat kicks in, and the opening rap by Kanye, I really started feeling it, especially the "You ain't got no Yeezy?" echo and then it hits that "Can we get much higher?" chorus, I mean, I'm not really that into the feathered girl stuff, but from the beginning I was HOOKED. Fish style baby.
And I'm not gonna give you a whole play by play of the film, but needless to say, I ended up watching the entire thing and didn't regret it, the music is dope, the visuals are sick, props to Yeezy for it - except for some corny parts.
So here you go, enjoy:

(Since it's the clean version, the censoring during "Runaway" are so corny)
My favorite parts are the intro, obviously, when he starts jamming out with the samples like at the beginning of "Runaway" at 5:56, especially when it leads to the sampling while the kid is running leading the red smoke behind him, dope!

And cause I couldn't help but give you songs to download, here's that Yeezy:

(This is my favorite version of the song, the one he played at the VMAs with him going to work with the samples, sounds fresh to death. Wow haven't said that in a while. Or ever maybe, until now! Fresh to death cherry!)

(The version without the samples, in case you like your music with less samplage?)

"Stupid, but what the fuck do I know? I'm just a chi-town nigga with a Nas flow"
(Easily my favorite song in the film, it was the best introduction 'cause of the song and set the tone in my opinion, had you remember that it was Kanye and that he's fresh and a rapper, Kanye on the mic rather than Kanye singing is definitely the way to get my approval, oh, and mentions of Nas work too)

Ok Go, Vide-Oh!

Just a cool Ok Go video and song for you to enjoy between techno onslaughts!

(I don't have it downloaded, but in case you want to, just copy the youtube link and go to Dirpy, should be easy from there)

And because I'm a friendly blogger, here's one of my favorite songs by them!

(This song is mad catchy son, I'm not afraid to say I've had moments of seriously enjoying it, and it has a dope video too! it's good to have variety in your music! This + rap + techno = musical variety!)

I'm Delivering

It's Thirsty Tuesday,
and I'm delivering the musical juice to quench yo' thirst!

Band of Skulls = Most Misleading Name!
/\ But wait! That's not a band of skulls! Those are people!
/\ What I was hoping they'd look like

(This song is dope, and even I underestimate it.. I forgot about this song til recently, but now I remember it and now you can embed its wholesome musical satisfaction into your memory. Ring Ring! Delivery!)

The Clever Part!
/\ My favorite part is the squirrel on his hand! Lolz!

(Get it? This is that musical juice I was talking about! Oh how clever! It's also a good song by the way, I'm feeling the beat, mad fresh fo' real fo' real!)

Bonus! Skeleton Dance!
This is actually one of my favorite short cartoons, when the skeletons start getting it poppin' this turns so fly! No really, serious musical talent amongst our deceased friends.

Savage Saturday

Savage Saturday for you to get Slammed with da Sickness!

(Tiesto with a song you can actually listen to without him mixing it! It's good and catchy shit, but it might amp you up enough to go start a fight with someone bigger than you. Be careful children!)

(It's a "Heads Will Roll" remix that's not by A-Trak, and you know what, it's good too! A bit harder and with more bass. Good shit)

(Ahh, the vocals that pop up in this are dope as hell, mad cute no lie. It's a fresh song, happy sounding bouncy shit)

(This is so catchy. I knew the beat and I knew the song, just never had it in the library or knew name or artist. NOW I DO. And now you can too)

(Friend and member of Pizza Club showed me this shit, I'm seeing 'em on Oct. 1st as courtesy of same friend. This song is fucking sick!)

(This is actually ill as hell. I understand the hype over Chuckie when I hear a song like this, the drop at 2:00 is my favorite, but the entire song is just dope, try not to get too addicted)

Get some old school flavor into your system, today we're back to good old techno!

(Pretty good shit, unique sounding drops, catchy ass vocals, everyboddyy do what yaa doinnn, smile will bring a sunshine day!)

/\ It drops at 1:24, yeee
(A classic track, I remember this from when I was a little kid watching "A Night at the Roxbury", shit is too catchy to be overlooked)

(Classic track, gets remixed, and is now a classic BANGER, no really though, get your mojo stomped on and reinvigorated)

Electric Zoo Day 2

After having had the minute of silence for those who were lost on 9/11 (if I really got into talking about it, this would turn into an emotional rant rather than an optimistic music blog), now you can have many minutes of music filled enjoyment!
New York Love

This is the Day 2 post, so it features the artists we heard on the second day of E.Zoo (in chronological order), lots of wild electricity ahead!
*SONG OF THE ZOO* means it's a song that was played by numerous DJs and heard frequently throughout Electric Zoo
*King of the Jungle* is the best DJ of the Zoo in my opinion. (Mobymobymoby!)
"The Song of the Zoo" is the song that was played most!

Day Two

Laidback Luke
(Laidback Luke was seriously killing it, but I didn't get to see that much of his set. BLAU!)

MOBY
*King of the Jungle*
(Moby is the king. He was playing a DJ Set so mostly not his own shit, and he came at us with some SERIOUS dubstep. These are the only two songs I knew that he played, and most people didn't know any. Fucking amazing. He was the best of the Zoo easily in my opinion)

(MOBYSTEP > ALL)

Boyz Noize
(This was his first or one of his first songs, crushed it)

(I remember this shit, dopedopedope)

(Dope song, Boyz Noize killed it, don't even think he played this)

(Sick shit too)

A-Trak
*SONG OF THE ZOO*
(Great song, got stuck in my head forever. The two drops are dope as hell, at 2:28 and 3:41)

Wolfgang Gartner
(Wolfgang was playing some nasty shit, really good stuff, sound system wasn't as great as the others, but this song really got the crowd hype, you can hear why)

Steve Aoki
(He's in the motherfucking house. And he was in the tent. And we all loved it. Not much else to say, killer)

(I don't even want to talk about this song because I missed it 'cause I was accompanying someone to the bathroom.. It speaks for itself. Quick story: My friend Jon lost his shoe when the song started playing, crowd went in a full mosh circle, and he landed back on his shoe... Sick shit)

*SONG OF THE ZOO*
(This song was played numerous times throughout Zoo, fucking dope stuff. Showed to me by Caveman of Ravemen a while ago. Ravemen approved!)

Bassnectar
(Bassnectar likes bass, and he uses it extremely well. This song is one of my favorite finds in a while. He's sick.)

(It'll blow your fucking face off, nuff said.)

Armin Van Buuren
(Armin played this, pretty good, but I'm not really a big fan of trance music when it's not live... But yeah, pretty good shit! The classical music part a bit in is dope)

(Again, trance = eh for me, but this is pretty good, and Armin is nasty live)

The Song of the Zoo
(This is quite easily the song of the entire Zoo. Heard it four times at least, and then it was the fucking ENCORE at the end of Armin's set. The song of the zoo. No competition. My vote for song of the summer too.)
