Back on my Grind

Admittedly I've been slacking these past couple days in my posting, due to business of schedule, lack of my computer at hand, and lack of space on my computer, quite difficult stuff...
But I'm back and so is the music!

Today I finally caught up on all the music I've been missing out of on two of the sites I use, which are RCRDLBL, and Big 10 House Mafia and therefore this is going to be quite a long post as I post a large amount of new stuff.

Indie/Rock/Chill
(Florence and the Machine is getting big, and this remix shows off the vocals of a catchy song, sometimes simple is better)

(This song is about succumbing to technological distractions and losing the personal touch, if you play this though, you'll display delicate personal taste)

(This is an epic and driven song, I'm feeling it, it also makes me even more excited that I'm seeing Tokyo Police Club and Passion Pit (yes!) on the 30th at Governor's Island)

(I mean, the only problem with this song, since it's well done and catchy as hell, is that, well, I hope I'm not a loser, tough singalong for the somewhat self respecting) (Kidding, it's dope)

(At midnight, they will jug your nauts until you no longer display any vital signs. Also, this song is pretty good)

(I heard it and fell in love, this song is cute and sweet and all together neat. Yeah I said that. It makes missing everything seem like something to smile about, and makes me hopeful to have that outlook when I'm off to school and miss my homeland)

This video is great in my opinion, and now I'm a fan of Hey Champ, with two songs posted below for your listening pleasure. Watch the video, I hope you like big boobies.
(Sorry if the big boobies thing mislead you, you're supposed to read this after watching video by the way, for you non-sequential people. Good song.)

(Another good song, I really can't say much about them, they're just catchy, bouncy, happy songs)

Hip-Hop
I'm not sure if you know it, but Derrick Comedy is a hilarious group that does youtube videos and recently made a movie called "Mystery Team"(which I saw and thoroughly enjoyed). This is all relevant, as is the video posted above, because the Spelling Bee host, Donald Glover, is also Childish Gambino, the rapper of this next song. One of my favorite videos, great performance by him in the skit, and then a surprisingly good track by him, some lines are sick.

("Why these motherfuckers think they wakin up in pain? Cause they sleepin on the hardest nigga in this game" daaamn, and "I don't make it rain, I bring the heatstorm nigga, Weezy F is in jail, I keep his seat warm nigga" makes sense, he sounds like weezy)

(Not on the Drake bandwagon, but I gotta give props to this song, sounds fresh and real)

(Mickey Factz on the dry bumpin' beat, some nice lyrics and that chill flow, play it)

(I shouldn't even have to say much, the Cool Kids do them and most people know it, this song is another chill bumper, let it rock, and let your head nod)

(J.Cole is a newcomer but he's on point with a bunch of his songs, more to come definitely, but this is the one I downloaded today so this is the one you're getting for now, my dude is lyrically gifted)

Bonus: Artist Spotlight!

(I just love that logo)
Donnis isn't amazing, he's not the best rapper out or even notable compared to some of the new guys, but, he is new and he is on the rise, so here are two of his songs that are pretty fresh, "More Fire" is definitely the best of the two, it's hot, no pun intended.

Dance/Hype
(What he's feeling, will have you feeling, as in this track is quite feelable, you know? Nice drops nice vocal looping and everything)

(I still waaaant you more than ever, it's catchy, just listen, and it's groovy too!)

(This is one tight track, not much to complain about here, just nice pump up music that makes you wanna dance and party, the right kind of stuff. Just wait for it to hit you at 0:44)

(Not a fan of Katy Perry, not so much a fan of this song, but I'm sure this remix is better than the original, not to stir up any unease, it's just because it's easier to play with techno! Duh!)

(Love might even be elevated by summer happiness vibes, so feel this, you should at least like it, maybe not love, I'm not sure if I like it that much as a stand alone track.)

(This is catchy shit, like damn, Crookers are sick and one of the illest groups out, and this remix does them justice by keeping up the level of dope)

Bonus!: Ravemen Stamp of Approval
C'mon, it's a remix of September by Earth, Wind, & Fire, how could it not be a classic.
(This is my shit, I give this the Ravemen stamp of approval cause this is some catchy shit and everyone loves catchy shit, especially if it makes you feel like you're in an old movie)

Pretty long post, just play it and enjoy, download or whatever. Also, follow the blog if you want to be kept updated on new posts. Yeah!

Have a Headache? Have some Taylenol

Since there's a lot of music to show, I'm going to post random tracks, don't always expect there to be some sort of structure. But, today is going to predominantly be remixes, with a surprise original mix and an old-school flashback.

Remixes
(This song is a killer, showed to me by my man Caveman aka Anthony Cava aka one half of Ravemen)

(Roxaaaaaaaaaane, you should bump this track tonight)

(Red turned into hype dance music? And it sounds good? Hear it to believe it)

(Not a remix, but a bouncy little drop and a catchy vocal sampling makes it something worth a play every once in a while)

(This is probably my favorite song in the post, verrrry catchy stuff and it makes me want to ask Pharrell and Armand Van Helden to become a collaboration group named Pharmand Van Rell, or something)

Original Mix
This isn't a song or a remix, rather it's part (randomly segmented to give you a peek at some ill stuff) of our recorded DJing during beer pong last night, it's from a section when Ravemen was on (Caveman and I) so check it out if you'd like, ask about songs (I can post a tracklist at any point), and experience 18 minutes of Ravemen shaking the Ravement with outravegous rave?

Old-School When There's No School
Not a remix, but it's just so damn cute and catchy that it's a great mood lifter at any point, especialllly during summer!

SummerSummerSummer and an Apology

This post is going to be of some summer songs that come to mind, but first I would like to apologize for the pictures in posts that do not seem to be working, my bad, you can imagine them, unless you can see them or saw them, then sweet.

Now, onto the music...

(Dude rocks the makeup and is catchy as hell, i love all the seasons now, not just summer, mainly summer though)

(I might have to have a Miike Snow solo post at some point just because they're so good, this is my favorite song by 'em right now though)

(Tryna' chill this summer? Tryna hear truth bout cash and wealth? Broke is dope and has lines that flow like honey for my ears...
"It's like, going from, day to day, and day to day, watching the money fade away"

(Personally, this song is one of the most perfectly summer songs, I can't imagine any song fitting summer better than this does, and it could have been on last year's playlist or the year before's or anything, it is sunshine by way of sounds. It's by the guitarist of the strokes and it has 'bright' in the title... Illuminate your earbuds!)

(Another example of B.o.B's broad collection of great songs, this one is bouncy and happy like a particular season, and it was in a nintendo commercial... It's got to be happy)

(This song is an unstoppably catchy and powerful dubstep remix that is one of the respected classics and makes the cute love of sunshine a bit more intense.)

Summer 09

Since my last post was a couple songs for Summer X (I know it was only 2 real summer tracks, I'm not done with the summer posts yet), I was reminded of last summer and how sick it was, so as an ode to summer 09 I hit up my playlist from then and am going to post the songs that were a part of that summer experience.

cutcopy.jpg

Cut Copy is a sick band and underrated and under-known in most circles, last summer a bunchof their songs were played alot so I'm going to post them here.

Feel the Love - Cut Copy

(great summer song, really lets you feel the love which is abound during the time of heat and sun)

Lights and Music - Cut Copy

(lights and music, just the title encompasses a good time)

And this is their music video for their song "Going Nowhere" which is the reason I first got into them, have a watch.

Going Nowhere - Cut Copy

Continuing on with 09 summer songs, these are a bunch more that were big for us:

Hip Hop

60487159.jpg

40 and a Blunt - Das EFX

(A 40 and a blunt, and a 40 and a blunt by Das EFX, good summer times. This is only one of many good Das songs so there will probably be more Das posts to come at some point.)

Trippin' - B.o.B.

(Again, this is only one of B.o.B.'s many good songs and he is one of my favorite rappers right now so there will be more to come. But this song does a good job at enhancing the summer chill mood)

I Hate My Job - Cam'ron

(The beat is fresh, the lyrics are tight, Cam kills it on this track in my opinion, It's good for the summer cause the rhythm is upbeat and you'll wanna enjoy vacation and fuck work)

Dance

(Basically electronic-get-you-hype music)

D.A.N.C.E. - Justice (MSTRKRFT Remix)

(D.A.N.C.E. is a crazy catchy song and the MSTRKRFT remix is my preferred version)

Love to Edit - Crookers

(This was THE summer hit, the drop at 2:05 is a bouncy killer and an instant classic, a CLASSIC)

Easy Love - MSTRKRFT

(This was another big summer song, the drums coming back in at 2:48 is one of my favorite layered drops. Is it just me or do alot of these summer tracks contain the word 'love'?)

A Cause Des Garcons (Sta Remix) - Yelle

(Catchy tecktonik jam when the dance was popular, I'm a big fan of this remix but the video is what made it popular... A Cause Des Garcons (TEPR Remix) Video - embedding was disabled so you'll have to click off this page for a little to see!)

Bring it on (Granny Smasher Remix) - Rusko

(The beginnings of my dubstep appreciation)

Jahova - Rusko

(Another CLASSIC, and I mean classic, this is the original dubstep hit for me and my friends, and it remains greatly respected. I only began listening to dubstep at the end of last year so this is an introduction that was mine as well, expect dubstep in further posts)

Miscellaneous Other, Rock/Indie/Chill/Summer Woot!

Sleepyhead - Passion Pit

Cuddle Fuddle - Passion PIt

(Passion Pit is a great band, they're going to be performing at Governor's Island on June 30th so get a ticket. The video for "Sleepyhead" (above) is ill and these two songs are their two best, in my opinion)

Daylight - Matt and Kim

(Well in the Daylight lalala, enjoy the summer daylight. Check out the video and try to smile as much as them, actually don't, I don't want to be responsible for mouth cramps)

Don't Look Back Into the Sun - the Libertines

(But chill under the sun)

Very Busy People - the Limousines

(This and "Dreaming of You" are the two biggest summer anthems in terms of singing along, the lyrics are relatable somewhat and that makes them memorable)

Young Love - Mystery Jets

(The song is catchy, and the video makes it even better so check above)

Someday - the Strokes

(I don't even think I need a Strokes post, the Strokes are one of the best bands ever and all of their songs are great, this is just my favorite and an instant hit with anyone whenever you play it, especially during a chill moment)

Dreaming of You - the Coral

(This song was huge this summer and the entire year, became the anthem for my grade, it's an instant singalong)

Chip tha Rip

It's officially summer time and summer time is a time of joy and merriment, so the songs here are summery happy songs to fit the mood.

Chip_Tha_Ripper.png

The first song is a rap track by Chip tha Ripper. It's perfect for summer and a well composed song, give it a listen and wait until 0:34 for the summer vibes to kick in. It's summer 2010 and it feels good!

This one just had to be posted because I used the word merriment, it's a good summary (a summery summary) of what house parties are to be... merry making, drug taking, at my place baby at my place!

And here's some bonus Chip in case you're not on the dude yet...

(a clever track about a baby chip, how could you not be interested! "I had the doctors at the hospital shook man, cause i came out with a louis vuitton book bag")

(yes, the man freestyles too, and his flow is fresher than chiquita bananas, it's bananas.)

More Eminem Remixes

I gotta put some more Eminem remixes, just because they're interesting and worth a listen to for the sake of hearing the potential of music genres being twisted and manipulated, and if you're into DJing then these might be of special interest to you because it's a way to drop in some good classic rap during a set.

This is a remix of the popular "Harder Better Faster Stronger" song by Daft Punk (yeah France!) with the afore-aforementioned "Without Me" by Eminem, it works pretty well and is a cool remix of two popular tracks. Not so much a fan of the chorus again, but that's just me.
This song isn't amazing in terms of the remix but is a good example of the potential of Drum n Bass, a genre that I love and learned of last year (along with Dubstep, I'm somewhat of a newcomer).
The other day I was talking to my good friend Tom about Drum n Bass' importance and permanence as a musical genre because it encompasses its own specific type of tempo/rhythm which is dope and how it can be weaved in and used with different genres and might be used throughout different genres more frequently in the future (that could be siick) (yes I know i misspelt sick, the added i was for added enthusiasm).
Anyway, this is a soft Drum n Bass remix of "Lose Yourself" by Eminem and worth a listen to.

Ghostwriteage

So, now to post something more recently found. Today I was looking up remixes of Eminem songs because I had a nostalgic moment reminiscing over "Without Me" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVkUvmDQ3HY - That's the video for it, good stuff).
The point, is that I found a couple very sick remixes of his songs that I am going to show soon.

Now, if you don't know Rjd2, familiarize yourself with his song "Ghostwriter" because it is a sick example of skill in musical creation. (Yes, this will tie into Eminem remixes in case you're getting antsy)

Next up, is the remix of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" with the aforementioned "Ghostwriter", I titled it on my itunes as "Ghostwrite Yourself" (yeah I combined it). It's a sick remix, but I'm not so much a fan of how the chorus fits in.

Continuing the Eminem remix spree is this song, a remix of the aforementioned
"Without Me" by Eminem with some Yoshi music. It's really cute (I won't deny it isn't the
most badass piece of music I've listened to.) The verse at around 1:02 starts adorably,
don't you just want to have Eminem babysit your kids?!
